Which NFC chip implant do I choose?

Do not be confused by the large selection of NFC chip implants. We will be happy to help you if you are unsure or cannot decide. In general, however, it can be summarized – if you only want to interact with a smartphone, i.e. write and read business cards or links via smartphone, the X2 NFC implant is the right choice. If you also want to work electronic lock cylinders and NFC access controls, the X3 or X3 Elite may be the right choice. The X3 NFC chip implant is a real all-rounder and, thanks to the smartphone-supported NFC chipset, not only suitable for access systems. Like the X2, it can be easily written with the Android or iOS operating system and can also be read without an app. The MIFARE Classic transponder is the most widely sold NFC transponder chipset and was originally designed for smart access systems. However, due to the large memory, this implant is also excellently suited for many other functions, which can be easily adapted to the implant using the NFC Tools app. This NFC chip implant is suitable for all users who need more memory than the X2 implant offers and are looking to use NFC access units such as NFC locks.

X3.1 Dual

If you want to control LF devices with your X3 but still want to use the smartphone function, this is the right implant for you. This special version has two chipsets that can interact independently of each other.

X3 Elite

The Elite version of the X3 offers the option of changing the actual UID (serial number) using a reader. This means that existing Classic transponders can be cloned without having to teach the implant to an existing system.

The X2 NFC chip implant is the first NFC implant that could be written via smartphone and is still one of the bestsellers. The reason for this is the small size of 2x12mm that can be stung almost painlessly. In addition, the X2 NFC chip implant has excellent properties to be able to write it easily by smartphone. The built-in formatted NTAG216 chipset has been developed especially for the end user and can be read by any NFC capable smartphone. This is now also the case with the X3, but formatting the memory via Android smartphone and the NFC Tools app is usually necessary. The X2 is for all those who mainly want to interact with the smartphone and smarthome / access systems are rather uninteresting.

The X4 NFC Chip Implant is based on a real microcontroller. Like our NFC standardized implants X2, X3 and Range etc., it can also be written to via smartphone, as this NFC chip implant also has a formatted NDEF memory, but this implant is mainly used for authentication. The very high security standard of 128bit AES encryption offers optimal protection against brute force attacks and the like. In addition, the NFC chip implant has a number of applications that are calculated in the chipset itself, such as binary and counting operations. The X4 has a 7Byte UID and a relatively large memory of optionally up to 8KByte. The X4 also makes use of the ISO14443-4, so that the integrated NXP DESFire® EV1 / 2K-8K chipset can be written to with most common smartphones and read without an app. Since this chipset is very complex, the readout time can take up to 1 second, which sometimes leads to the user aborting the read-in process too hastily.  This NFC chip implant is suitable for those who would like to delve deeper into the NFC matter and rely on a high security standard and large memory.

The X1 RFID implant is based on a 125kHz chipset. This is intended exclusively for authentication of access devices and control units, as the chipset has a high range due to the low frequency. We offer this in two versions and two sizes each. The EM4200 chipset is a read-only version and successor of the EM4102 chip. This version cannot be written and can only be read. Alternatively, the EM4305 chipset is also available, which can also be written using the corresponding writer. The advantage over the read-only chipset is that the serial number can be changed at will. Please note that both versions can not be read or written with a smartphone. A corresponding reader / writer is necessarily needed to use the implant. This chip implant is only suitable for those who want to control door locks, control units, alarm systems etc. with 125kHz and do not want smartphone NFC support.

The classic X1 i.e. EM4200 can only be read and is used for 125KHz reading units like older access systems or to identify objects. Attention! The implant can not be read and written with the smartphone like the other implants.

X1 Elite

The Elite version of the X1 is writable and has the same “UID” feature as the X3 Elite. In addition, the Elite version (EM4305) has a 512bit EEPROM memory, as well as a 32 bit password function.

Specialist Chipsets

The X Range NFC implant with the built-in iCode SLI chipset is ideal if you are looking for an NFC chip implant in the low-budget sector but still value readout range. Unfortunately, you have to accept small compromises in terms of compatibility and memory. The built-in memory of 106 bytes is just enough for a business card. However, if you only want to exchange contact data with your NFC implant, you can use it without hesitation. Unfortunately, the implant has to take a back seat when it comes to smartphones or NFC access systems, since this ISO standard is rarely used for locking cylinders. Originally, this ISO standard was designed for industry and warehouse logistics, which also benefits from smartphone compatibility and high readout range despite the RF of 13.56 MHz. This NFC chip implant is only suitable for those who want to read in and out simple small data sets via smartphone.

X Shine

The X Shine implant is only a real NFC chip implant in the broadest sense, since it only uses the 13.56 MHz frequency to supply itself and the LED with power. The implant does not have a memory slot or anything similar and is therefore categorized more as an aesthetic upgrade. The implant glows in neutral white, as you would only see a slight difference due to the color change when it shines through the skin anyway. The implant can be powered with an NFC-enabled smartphone or reader so that this starts to glow. This remains until the smartphone is several centimeters away. This varies greatly depending on the smartphone model. This implant is only suitable for those who are looking for a very special piercing.
